Busy Week for Bush Climate Action Charade

President Bush didn't bother to go to the UN climate meeting attended by 150 nations. Why bother when you can call your own meeting a few days later and completely control the agenda and the outcome -- which will be? Nothing. His real intentions on climate were clarified by the new release of White House e-mails. We salute and mourn the loss of Marcel Marceau -- a Frenchman! -- but pantomime in a President is disgraceful.

President Bush's transportation secretary, Mary Peters, with White House approval, personally directed a lobbying campaign to urge governors and two dozen House members to block California's first-in-the-nation limits on greenhouse gases from cars and trucks, according to e-mails obtained by Congress.

That story from the WaPo is really going help with Bush's credibility at his private climate meeting on Thursday and Friday. Not that he had any anyway.
